Are you holding a grudge? About?
Grudges are often easy to hold, but they can be detrimental to our mental and emotional health. Choosing peace over holding onto grudges can help us lead a happier and more fulfilling life. Instead of harboring resentment towards someone who has wronged us, it is better to forgive and move forward.
It’s a natural occurrence for us humans to hurt others, sometimes unintentionally. But when someone has intentionally wronged me, I have learned to understand that that person is not worth being a part of my life. It is important to realize that not everyone is meant to share moments with us, and that’s okay. In time, I choose to excuse that person from my life unless they come to ask for forgiveness. Forgiving easily is crucial because not everyone acts with malicious intent.
It’s not to say that everyone will always treat me well. Like most people, I have been wronged on occasion. However, I choose not to hold onto anger, as it is my enemy of health. An angry outburst may bring momentary relief, but it will come with a lifelong price. Allowing emotions to control us can lead to unfixable mistakes that could destroy what we have worked hard to build over the years.
Therefore, I set aside my feelings of anger and choose to move on. No one is perfect, including me, and I understand that we’re all prone to making mistakes. I don’t hold grudges towards someone unless it is absolutely necessary to do so. Instead of a grudge-keeping mentality, I choose to focus on the positives in my life and surround myself with people who support and uplift me.
At the end of the day, peace should always come first. Harboring grudges only causes unnecessary strain and grief on our mental health, and can lead to misery for ourselves and those around us. I believe that forgiveness and acceptance is key to a happier and more fulfilling life, while holding onto anger and resentment only breeds negativity.
